2011 Arbor Day Celebration Planned At
Rose City Middle School in North Little Rock

North Little Rock City Officials and members of the City Tree Board will hold its official 2011 Arbor Day Celebration at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 18th at the Rose City Middle School campus located at 5500 Lynch Drive in North Little Rock.

Four types of oaks (Willow, Shumard, Saw Tooth, and Pin) will be planted on the school campus to enhance the limited landscaping at that location. Currently, the school has only one tree in front of the building. The Principal, Patricia Murray, is supportive of the beautification project.

The trees are being funded probably through the City Beautiful Commission at a cost of approximately $2,128. The site is being prepared by NLR Parks Department (digging holes, hauling trees, providing compost/mulch), and the actual tree planting will done by L’Oreal’s Green Team (25 persons from the L’Oreal plant). Contact person for the L’Oreal team is Lanny Sutton. Community Planning is providing irrigation bags and coordinating for the City Tree Board.

A proclamation will be prepared and read at the photo opportunity by the Mayor’s Office.
